I found these and more beautiful illustrations at Golden Age Comic Book Stories blog.
They're the work of Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen (1886-1957) and are from 'East of The Sun West of The Moon', old tales from the North, 1914.
You can read a synopsis of the story here if you're interested.

Very artistic illustrations, wish I had that sort of talent! Diane
ReplyDeleteYes, they are gorgeous hey Diane -
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you are very talented in other areas though, like growing veggies, cooking and building rabbit proof fences ... :)
Not my thing, but fortunately we are all different; have to admire the quality though!
ReplyDeleteYes, thank goodness for that Dave - thanks for the comment ...

ReplyDeleteIt seems the artist likes tall people and things.
ReplyDeleteThis reminded me to listen Diana Krall's version of the jazz song by the same title.
'Tall People And Things'? - I must look for that because I really like Diana Krall ... thanks lisleman
ReplyDeleteAmazing art ... the structure (tent ?) in the 2nd picture reminds me of an ostrich egg ....
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Lynda ... it does look like an egg - I think it's the black/white contrast that grabbed me ...
