Bach & Cold Turkey

I can't really be Bach - I'm tone-deaf and even tuning a guitar is a mission ...

I've just spent two sweltering hot months in the north of Nam building - got a lot of work done but I'm glad to be online again ... thanks to all who visited and commented ... I appreciate it.

The reason I stay off line while I'm home is that there I only have a VERY expensive and snail-slow dial-up connection ... simple pages take ages to load and often just time-out ... I just can't afford it ... I have to force myself to go cold-turkey ...

... do you remember how you used to spend your time before the internet? I don't have a TV there either and apart from buying a newspaper when I go to town for supplies - no news - and you know what? ... it doesn't matter ...

So how do I pass the time on cold turkey? ... Well, after a hard day's work it's usually a time for introspection and the making of resolutions which I never keep ...

These are a few shots of the house I'm building.

I use rock which I drag off a hill about 5k's away. The smaller shiny rocks - I call them "magic rocks" - I collected in southern Namibia.

I do all of the work myself so it's taking a very long time and I've been at it, off-and-on, for about ten years now.

I'll probably never complete it in my lifetime and I hope my kids will carry on where I leave off ... :)
